7 Former Cruiserweights Who Should Return To WWE Raw

2. Evan Bourne

Here we have another talented high-flyer whose attitude and outside-the-ring antics squandered what was a very promising career.

The man also known as Matt Sydal, a true standout on the mid-2000s indie scene, was signed by WWE in 2007 and made his on-screen debut on the ECW on SyFy programme on June 3, 2008. Quickly getting the attention of fans with his flashy offense and devil-may-care approach. He began climbing the ladder before his popularity dictated a move to the bright lights of Monday Night Raw.

Some of his highlights on the red brand include defeating Chris Jericho cleanly at Over the Limit 2010, stealing the show in a couple of Money in the Bank matches and tagging up with buddy John Cena for a very brief time. Eventually he settled into a role tagging with Kofi Kingston as 'Air Boom' and the exciting duo captured the Tag Team Titles in August 2011.

Unfortunately, their run as a team was marred by Bourne receiving two suspensions for violating the WWE Wellness Policy in November and January. Soon after that, Bourne was involved in a bad car accident that broke his foot in four places and dislocated it in five. He wouldn't make a full recovery before he was released by WWE in 2013.

Since then, Bourne has been very active on the international independent circuit and in New Japan, where he has formed a winning partnership with fellow aerial ace Ricochet. Still only 33 and seemingly showing no ill effects of his bad foot injury, Bourne would be a good shout for Raw's revamped cruiserweight division (as long as he adhered to the company's Wellness Policy).
